The Literal Truth about God
The good book.
The literal truth about God, The gospel truth.
This is what we are led to believe. There are clear quotes in the bible that lead me to believe from a historians point of reference, there is a clear unreliability in fact.
How are we to understand the entire basis of a religion if there is no clarity within the text, the anceint scriptures. Is it through constant over the centuries that cause these anomolies, misconceptions or am i just unclear in my understanding?
Is it just my faith that is the questionable aspect?
Am I sinner for not being in line with faith?
Am I a heretic?
Have I been influenced by a higher more superior force?
Am i in league with the dark one?
Must i carry out his bidding?
If i am to question the truth and in turn, faith, that is what i am taught to believe. That seems like a no win situation if you are a cynic. We are a new generation of thinkers. More understanding, our minds are gradually expanding, we have easier access to information, therefore feeding the need to understand. Governments are finding it harder to lie to us and to each other because of this, we can only do this through information.
Rev: Hey there, Just checking in. I thought of a title for this book im writing, i just wondered what you thought,
"Heresy: Exploring the culture of extreme faiths in modern day soceity"
I will be looking at the number of different things, they maybe seperate things or one big study. I will be looking at the bible and christianity specifically the fundamentalism in American faiths and religious cults, the church of satan and the culture of devil worshipping, spirituality, zen and buddhism.
Man: This is a loaded, difficult topic. Can you please explain to me what you mean by 'extreme' faiths, and what is it you are trying to find out? What kind of angle?
You will need to look at their particular doctrines are etc, in order to understand the 'culture
'Are you really prepared to do that? Some of the things are going to mess with your mind. The bible says, "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
The bible also says that the devil is a liar/a deceiver. In fact, the father of lies. It says he is a muderer, like a lion, prowling around looking for someone to devour. That he comes to steal, kill and destroy. If the truth sets you free, then lies will put you in bondage, in spiritual prison.
God is light, in him there is no darkness at all, coversely, therefore, the devil dwells in darkness, and the bible exhorts us to have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness.
Mind and heart in the bible are used interchangeably, dont allow your mind/heart to become darkened, please look at:Romans1:18-23 and Ephesians 4:14-18 and 5:6-17.
When bank tellers are trained to be able to ascertain whether a bank note is real or counterfeit, they are trained by looking at the real one and ONLY the real one. So when they are presented with the counterfeit they will be able to recognise it automatically and will not be fooled.
The descision is yours, but please be wise in what you do. I am very concerned.
Rev: There is no need to be concerned. I am surrounded by good people, dear Lord and i am too intelligent to get sucked into anything. Well, when you are taught in banks, they show you the real ones but also the counterfeit ones, thats the only way to tell the difference, if you are shown right or wrong, especially as some of the fakes are very good as well as very humourous.
Thats the only way, common sense and again information is power, even if you consider the infomation dangerous, a trust in judgement and logic is detrimental. You may focus on the real one and know how to tell its real, but it works both ways.
I think im going to start my own church anyway.
The title is a working title. I am not 100% sure what to cover as yet. In extreme, i mean fundamentalism, which i believe is present within all faiths and cultures. I am quite interested in how fundamentalist pro life christians can justify the killing of staff in abortion clinics by planting pipe bombs and such, pro life killing life? I do not understand the logic there. Just one example really. I didnt think it was "thou shalt not kill but..."
People who take their faith to extremes in other words, from suicide bombers to the 'winning sinning' guy who walks up and down Oxford Street with his megaphone, like i said a lot of it is going to be light hearted but i will try and do as much research as possible as to what motivates these people.
Man: The film 'Catch me if you Can' talks about this issue. There were so many different counterfeit notes; some more convincing than others, but only one that was real. You only need one little conspicuous difference to make it a countrfeit, which only the more trained eyed can detect. This the reason why you need to know the authentic one so well, that you can automatically detect that miniscule erroneous detail. One who is not thoroughly trained could possibly misled. I know that you are clever and i am sure that you will do your upmost not to get brainwashed. I certainly hope that you will stay well clear of any 'extreme sucking system' for i dont want to organize a rescue plan to come and drag you away by force then brainwash you a second time to get you back to the normal man, the man that you are supposed to be.
The 'are you a sinner or a winner' guy may be a little eccentric, but i would call him fundamentalist or extremist in at all. He doesnt strike me as condemnatory or judgmental at all. Only God knows his heart. I certainly cant judge his motivation, but he does seem to be genuine. I wouldnt do it or say the things that he says in the same way as him.
One thing i can say for him is that he is actually conscientious and obedient enough to do it, which is what most of us are doing. He has been doing it very consistantly, which is a remarkable attribute.
